Our take
I recommend AZ Hotels Vieux Kouba to couples who want a quiet Algiers stay with warm water rather than laps: there is a spa pool and a jacuzzi, but no swimming pool listed. Rooms are air-conditioned with private bathrooms, the on-site restaurant saves going out, and private parking is free. Its 7.4 from 182 reviews is modest, so keep expectations simple.
- ✓Make sure to take advantage of the spa pool and jacuzzi for a relaxing experience.
- ✓Consider dining at the on-site restaurant for convenience during your stay.
- ✓If you're driving, the free private parking will be a great asset.

Why guests love itAZ Hôtels Vieux Kouba is positioned by its own description as suited to couples and travellers wanting a tranquil stay, and the pairing of a spa pool with a jacuzzi backs that up more than a claim to broad amenities. It's a smaller, simpler property than the branded chains in this Algiers set, with one restaurant and free parking rather than multiple dining options. At 7.4 from 182 reviews, it works well as a low-key base for a short, relaxed stay.
