Le Meridien, Surat
A pool and active leisure wing near Dumas Beach
About this hotel
Le Meridien, Surat opened its current chapter as the property transitioned from The Grand Bhagwati-OMLLP, blending contemporary design with local cultural touches across 170 rooms and suites. The leisure wing centres on a swimming pool, fitness centre, and squash and badminton courts, giving guests an active option alongside the water rather than a purely restorative one. The Surat Kitchen serves vegetarian multicuisine dining, and over 100,000 square feet of pillarless event space, including the Ruby and Emerald ballrooms, positions the hotel for weddings and conferences as much as leisure stays. Three kilometres from Surat International Airport, near the Hazira Industrial Belt and Dumas Beach, the location suits business travellers wanting a short airport transfer with genuine leisure options attached.

Our take
This suits business travellers and wedding guests who want an active leisure option, squash or badminton alongside a swim, rather than a purely restful pool afternoon. The proximity to Surat International Airport makes it a strong pick for a short stopover with real amenities rather than an airport-hotel compromise. Travellers hoping for direct beach access should note that Dumas Beach, while nearby, still requires a separate trip, so this is a pool-and-fitness stay rather than a beach one.
- ✓Book a squash or badminton court in advance if that is part of your plan, since courts can fill up during conference or wedding weeks.
- ✓Try The Surat Kitchen for a vegetarian multicuisine dinner rather than assuming limited options, since the menu covers more ground than a standard hotel restaurant.
- ✓Arrange transport to Dumas Beach separately if you want sea air beyond the pool, since it is close but not walkable from the property.
Why we love it
- Squash and badminton courts alongside the pool
- A three-kilometre transfer from the international airport
- 170 rooms and suites in a recently rebranded property
- Proximity to Dumas Beach for an outdoor alternative
Why guests love itWe chose this for a short stopover between flights and ended up staying an extra night just to use the squash court and pool properly. The rooms felt genuinely refreshed, which tracks with the recent rebrand, and The Surat Kitchen surprised us with how varied the vegetarian menu was. We did not make it to Dumas Beach in the end, which is the one thing keeping this from being a full leisure stay, but the pool and fitness wing covered the gap well.
