Heliconia Park Hotel and Golf Resort
A golf resort built around a year-round outdoor pool and kids' area
About this hotel
Days here start early with a round on the attached golf course before the heat sets in, and settle by early afternoon into the year-round outdoor pool, where a separate kids' pool keeps younger guests occupied nearby. The restaurant, bar, coffee shop and picnic area spread the dining options across the grounds rather than one room, and evening entertainment with live music picks up once the sun drops. Family rooms, a concierge service and a minimarket round out a property clearly built for longer resort-style stays rather than a quick overnight near the Government Reserved Area, roughly 26 kilometres from Port Harcourt International Airport. Private check-in and check-out and a 24-hour front desk keep the arrival process smooth despite the resort's larger footprint, and free on-site private parking is included for guests driving in from elsewhere in Rivers State.

Our take
Travellers staying here will find one of Port Harcourt's few genuine resort-style properties, built for guests who want golf, a proper outdoor pool and evening entertainment in one place rather than a compact business hotel. Families will do well with the separate kids' pool, though solo business travellers on a short trip may find the resort layout and distance from the Government Reserved Area more than they need.
- ✓Book a tee time on arrival, since the golf course and hotel share the same grounds and slots fill up on weekends.
- ✓Ask about the kids' pool schedule separately from the main pool, since family hours sometimes run at different times of day.
- ✓Catch the evening live music by the picnic area rather than heading back to your room after dinner.
Why we love it
- A separate kids' pool next to the main outdoor pool
- Golf course attached to the hotel grounds
- Evening entertainment with live music
- Picnic area spread across the property
Why guests love itOur family split the days evenly between golf for the adults and the pool for the kids, and having a dedicated kids' pool right next to the main one meant nobody felt short-changed. The picnic area by the water became our go-to lunch spot instead of trekking back to the restaurant each time. It's further from central Port Harcourt than some hotels, but the resort layout made up for that once we stopped leaving the grounds each day.
