Our take
The Grand Hotel Beijing is ideal for travelers who appreciate a blend of traditional elegance and modern amenities, especially those who value having both indoor and outdoor swimming options. Families will find it accommodating due to its kid-friendly nature, while business travelers can utilize the dedicated facilities. Those seeking a lively, party-centric atmosphere might find the hotel's refined ambiance a bit too subdued, as the focus here is on comfort and relaxation.
- ✓Utilize both pools: the indoor pool is great for a morning swim, while the outdoor pool is perfect for sunny afternoons.
- ✓Explore the gourmet dining options on-site for a convenient and high-quality meal.
- ✓Take advantage of the spa and fitness center to unwind after a day of sightseeing or business meetings.
Why we love it
- The convenience of both indoor and outdoor pools
- Refined rooms with traditional Chinese decor
- Gourmet dining options on-site
- Comprehensive spa and fitness facilities
Why guests love itWe stayed in early May and used both pools on different days depending on the weather, which turned out to be genuinely useful rather than a marketing line. The traditional Chinese decor throughout the grounds made even a lap swim feel more like a garden walk than a hotel errand, and the spa afterward was a nice bonus rather than the main draw. It is an older-style five-star, more stately than trendy, and that suited our trip well.
