Taj Cape Town is the swimmer's answer. The hotel's own fact sheet lists a 15-metre heated indoor lap pool, two saunas and the Jiva Spa, which reviewers describe with a whirlpool, hammams and vitality pools. Because the pool is indoors and heated, it works in June as well as in January, which no unheated garden pool in the city can promise. The hotel spreads 176 rooms across two heritage buildings and a newer tower at 1 Wale Street, on the corner of St George's Mall. The Taj Residence suites are a different product in the same tower. They are privately owned apartments let on a self-catering basis, from one-bedroom units to two-bedroom suites with a kitchen, so you get the Wale Street address and a living room rather than hotel service.
