Jakarta spreads outward rather than upward in a straight line: the Dutch colonial core of Kota Tua sits at one edge, the planned, tree-lined streets of Menteng just south of it, and the glass towers of the Golden Triangle further still, running from Sudirman through Thamrin to the SCBD. Traffic between these districts is a genuine daily fact, not an occasional inconvenience, which is why most visitors pick a neighbourhood first and build the rest of their stay around it rather than hopping across the city. Hotel pools track that same geography: rooftop pools over the Golden Triangle's skyline, garden pools inside Kota Tua's colonial streets, and family pools in Menteng and South Jakarta's residential pockets. With humid heat year-round and a wet season running roughly November to March, a pool, whether outdoor, indoor or rooftop, is less a resort extra here than a practical way to handle Jakarta's climate.
