Wanda Vista Taiyuan
An indoor pool five minutes from Wanda Square
About this hotel
Wanda Vista Taiyuan is the most leisure-oriented of the city's indoor-pool hotels, its 25-storey tower sitting a five-minute stroll from Wanda Square and Longtan Lake rather than tucked into a purely business district. The indoor pool pairs with a spa and wellness centre, and five separate dining options, including ZHEN Chinese Restaurant, HE Japanese Restaurant and Café Vista, mean guests can fill several evenings without repeating a meal. Rooms are tastefully decorated with air conditioning, a satellite TV, an iPod docking station and video games, and en suite bathrooms include separate showers and bathtubs. A fitness centre, sauna and massage treatments round out the wellness offer, and Liu Alley sits a 15-minute drive away for guests wanting a look at older Taiyuan. At roughly 30 minutes from Taiyuan Wusu International Airport, it sits on the farther end of the distance range.
- Indoor pool with spa and wellness centre
- Five dining options on site
- Sauna and massage treatments
Our take
This suits guests treating Taiyuan as a genuine city break rather than a pure business stopover, given the proximity to Wanda Square, Longtan Lake and five different restaurants on site. The sauna and massage options add a leisure layer that the more corporate hotels nearby do not emphasise as strongly. Business travellers prioritising the Coal Trading Center should book Kempinski or Sheraton instead, since Wanda Vista sits further from that district.
- ✓Walk to Wanda Square and Longtan Lake in the evening before or after using the pool, it is an easy five-minute stroll.
- ✓Rotate through the five restaurants rather than sticking to one, ZHEN and HE offer genuinely different cuisines.
- ✓Book the sauna or a massage slot ahead of a Coal Trading Center meeting day, it tends to fill up by mid-afternoon.
Why we love it
- Five-minute walk to Wanda Square and Longtan Lake
- Five distinct restaurants on site
- Sauna and massage alongside the indoor pool
- A genuine 25-storey city-break setting
Why guests love itThe five-minute walk to Wanda Square after dinner became our routine most nights, and having five different restaurants on site meant we never ate the same meal twice across the stay. The indoor pool and spa floor felt more like a proper city-break amenity than the business-hotel pools we tried elsewhere in Taiyuan. The sauna slot we booked ahead of a work meeting the next day was easy to reserve and genuinely helped before an early start.
